MeshRelayPTT

Your team, one channel, instantly.

MeshRelayPTT turns everyday phones into fast, encrypted two-way radios — over your network, your server, or no server at all.

Built for the edge. Self-hosted. End-to-end encrypted.

How it works

Two ways to connect. Same app, same channels.

Radios are reliable but expensive and range-limited. Consumer push-to-talk apps are easy, but route your traffic through someone else's cloud. MeshRelayPTT sits between the two.

Server mode

Reach your team anywhere

Point the app at a MeshRelay server and your team can reach each other across any connection — Wi-Fi, cellular, or a private network. You run the server, so you decide where it lives, who is on it, and what it keeps.

Local network mode

No server. No internet.

Devices on the same Wi-Fi talk directly to one another — no server, no accounts, nothing leaving the local network. For when infrastructure is down, unavailable, or simply not worth standing up.

Capabilities

Everything a working channel needs.

Instant push-to-talk

Large, glanceable controls meant to be used without looking. Low-latency Opus audio stays clear on constrained links, with dual-watch on a second channel.

End-to-end encryption

AES-256 channels encrypted on the device before transmission. Even the relay cannot read what passes through it. Keys shared by QR or device to device.

Live team mapping

See your people on a live map. Location sharing is opt-in and off until enabled, with optional TAK server integration.

Calling & messaging

Call any user for a private full-duplex conversation, or send text to a channel or an individual — over the same connection as voice.

Groups on demand

Build an ad-hoc group and pull in who you need, including users from partnered organizations working the same incident.

Built for the field

Audio history, PTT feedback tones, tactical low-visibility mode, satellite mode for constrained links, and emergency alerting.

For organizations

Infrastructure you control.

Run it yourself

The MeshRelay server is software you host — a Raspberry Pi in a comms room, a VM in your data center, or a cloud instance. No requirement to route operational traffic through a third party.

Multi-agency by design

Organizations stay separated on the server, and mutual aid links join them when an incident calls for it — shared users, shared groups, shared channels — then separate again when it closes.

Interoperability

Bridge channels to Zello Work so existing Zello users and MeshRelay users share a talkgroup. Feed positions to a TAK server so PTT users appear in your common operating picture.

Web dashboard

Manage users, organizations, channels, mutual aid, and bridges from a browser. See who is connected and what is happening in real time.

Privacy

The app collects nothing for us.

MeshRelayPTT does not phone home. It contacts only the server you configure. Where you run that server, your traffic never touches our infrastructure at all.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a server?

No. Local network mode works with no server at all for devices on the same Wi-Fi. A server extends the same channels beyond one network.

Who can hear my traffic?

The people on your channel. If the channel is encrypted, only those holding the key — a relay in between passes traffic it cannot read.

Does it work with Android?

Yes. iOS and Android clients share the same channels, encryption, and server, so mixed fleets work together without anyone changing how they operate.

Does it work with Zello or TAK?

Yes, through the server. Zello Work channels can be bridged onto MeshRelay channels, and positions can be fed to a TAK server.
